Taste Identification
Taste Identification detects poison on food. On this shard that is its entire function, and since poisoned food is almost never encountered, this is fairly labeled a dead skill — documented here for completeness.
What It Does
Use the skill and target something edible within 2 tiles:
- Food: on a successful check you learn whether it has "poison smeared on it" or is clean. This is the one real (if rare) use — a poisoner can taint food and hand it to you.
- Potions and potion kegs: the skill just tells you what you already know — all potions on this shard are self-evident from their label and color. No identification needed, ever.
- Anything else: "That's not something you can taste."
There is no crafting bonus, no alchemy tie-in, and no other hidden benefit.
Skill Cap and Training
Taste Identification caps at 100.0 (no skill scroll). If you insist: buy a pile of cheap food and taste it repeatedly. But unless you expect a Poisoning specialist to be seasoning your dinner, spend the skill points on literally anything else.
