Rares

Rares are collectable items that carry a permanent rarity label. The label is part of the item forever, so a rare stays provably genuine when it is traded or displayed in your house, and collecting them counts toward achievements.

There are six rarity categories, and they are the only things the game calls rare.

World spawns

The largest source by far. Rares sit at fixed, hidden spots all over Eren and respawn on a timer once taken — five tiers, from Quarter-Daily up to one-time Server Birth rares.

That is a system of its own: see Spawning Rares for the tiers, respawn timers, how finding works and how to hunt them.

Earned rares

The other five categories come from playing, and each carries its own label:

Category How to get it
Monster Loot Dropped by specific monsters as very rare loot, some tied to particular dungeon regions
Champion Spawn Reward From champion spawns, including the unique coloured Ranger armor set
Achievement Reward Bought with points in the achievement shop — see below
First Light Reward The smoke-hued veteran set — see First Light
Gathering Reward A rare bonus roll when a gathering skill mastery proc fires

The gathering rares are the rarest by some distance: the proc has to fire and win a separate roll on top. There are three, one per gathering skill — the Rare Cold Stone Forge (Mining), the Cart with Logs house addon (Lumberjacking) and the Rare Beef Carcass (Skinning). Nobody is going to stumble into one.

What is not a rare

Two things are commonly mistaken for rares because they are also exclusive and also bought with points:

  • Town Rewards — the registrar's wearables, dyes, banners and ethereal mounts, bought with Town Influence, Exports or Defense. Desirable, but they carry no rarity label.
  • Eren Hues and the limited-time hue releases, which are a separate collectable system.
