Collectable Ingredients
Some materials are not mined, chopped or fished — you gather them by hand from plants and animals out in the world. Double-click a plant to pick it (you must be within 2 tiles).
Cooking ingredients
No vendor sells these; the best buff foods a cook can prepare depend on them.
| Ingredient | Where it grows | |

Turnip | Farmer fields |

Potato | Farmer fields |

Mushroom | Dungeons — they sprout in dark places and regrow over time |
These go into the higher-end vegetable dishes of the Cooking skill, such as the vegetable plates and the chef's vegetable feast (a recipe item). See the Crafting Overview for how cooking works.
Note for farmers' fields: in the young-player area, crops can only be picked by young players.
Wool
Wool comes from sheep, and it is the start of the cloth chain that feeds Tailoring.
Shearing a sheep
Double-click a knife — a dagger, butcher knife, cleaver or skinning knife all work — and target a live sheep.
- You get 2 wool in Felucca, 1 elsewhere.
- The sheep visibly loses its fleece and turns into the shorn, skinny model.
- A sheared sheep cannot be sheared again for 3 hours. Try earlier and it simply refuses.
- Wild sheep grow their fleece back once that timer is up, and the woolly model returns with it.
Sheep are also tameable at just 11.1 Animal Taming and take a single control slot, so a starting tamer can keep one. Be aware that an owned sheep does not visibly regrow its fleece — it keeps the shorn look even once the 3 hours are up and it can be sheared again. Wild sheep are the ones that look woolly.
Killing a sheep instead
Carving a sheep's corpse yields tainted wool — 6 at a time if the sheep still had its fleece, and none at all if it had already been sheared. It also gives 3 lamb legs.
Shearing is far better than killing. Tainted wool spins into only one ball of yarn, while normal wool spins into three. A live sheep sheared every 3 hours out-produces a dead one many times over.
From wool to cloth
| Step | What you do | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Double-click wool, target a spinning wheel | 3 balls of yarn (tainted wool: 1) |
| 2 | Use 4 balls of yarn on a loom | 1 bolt of cloth |
| 3 | Cut the bolt with scissors | 50 cloth |
So 2 wool → 6 yarn, and 4 of those yarn make a bolt worth 50 cloth.
Both wool and yarn are dyeable, and the colour carries all the way through — dye the wool and the finished bolt comes out in that hue. See Pigments and Dyes.
Spinning wheels and looms stand in most tailor and weaver shops, and both can be crafted with Carpentry for your own house.
