Luck

Luck is a hidden attribute that improves your loot, your gathering yields and the quality of the items you craft. It is capped at 100 and comes mainly from charged luck jewelry.

Luck jewelry

How to get luck

  • Luck jewelry — rings, necklaces and bracelets crafted by tinkers with gems.
  • Song of Fortune — a bard song that grants a temporary luck buff to the bard and party (see Barding).
  • Citizenship town bonus — some towns offer a luck bonus to their citizens (see Citizenship).

All sources stack, but your total luck is always capped at 100.

Luck jewelry

  • Luck jewelry is crafted by tinkers using gems. The gem determines the luck value of the piece:
Gem Luck bonus
Amber Amber 20
Amethyst Amethyst 22
Emerald Emerald 24
Sapphire Sapphire 34
Ruby Ruby 36
Diamond Diamond 38
  • Each piece is created with 20 charges. Tinkers with skill above 80 get +1 charge per 10 points of skill, and a tinker at 120 skill gets one further bonus charge.
  • While worn, one charge is consumed every 15 minutes and grants the luck bonus for that time.
  • Logging out pauses the timer — the remaining time of the current charge is saved.
  • Unequipping the piece voids the rest of the current charge.
  • When the last charge runs out and the piece is removed, it is destroyed.

What luck improves

  • Loot from monsters — the luck of the player who dealt the most damage improves the generated loot (better magic items — luck gives no bonus to gold amounts).
  • Dungeon chests — better rolls for special contents such as pigments, extra gems and identification wands.
  • Paragon chests — the luck of the top damager influences both the chest level and its loot.
  • Gathering — chance to stumble onto a higher-quality resource vein while mining, lumberjacking and skinning.
  • Crafting — a modest push to all magic attribute rolls of crafted weapons, armor and instruments (damage/protection, accuracy, durability, tuning). Since the 2026-08 crafting rework luck's share of the roll is deliberately small — your material, your tool, your crafting skill mastery and Magical Essence matter far more. Runebooks are still created with more maximum charges while lucky.
  • Fishing up an SOS — luck improves what you haul up from a message in a bottle.
  • Lockpicking — when a pick attempt fails while you are hidden, luck reduces the chance that you slip and reveal yourself.

Luck-only drops

Some items sit on a luck-only loot table — at 0 Luck the game never even rolls it, and stronger monsters give better odds:

  • Blood pentagram parts — the 34 parts of the blood pentagram drop from this table only, so a luckless character can never find one.
  • Bonus gems — an extra gem roll on every kill, a good chance on strong monsters.
  • Kasa — a straw hat, a very rare drop from monsters.
  • Mystic Crafting Material — only from kills on dungeon level 3 and in boss rooms; the key ingredient of the Prospector's Tool.
